Biomass cogeneration, a recent reference
We designed and built, lump-sum turnkey, a 25 MW biomass cogeneration unit that turns the animal meal produced by its host plant into energy, on site. The meal is gasified, the gas is burned in a thermal oxidiser with DeNOx, and the heat raises high-pressure steam to drive a turbine.
The steam then serves the site’s process in place of its gas boilers, and the green power produced is fed to the grid. The result is a sharp cut in the site’s fossil gas use, and far fewer trucks on the road now that the meal is no longer shipped off site.
